TI-84 Plus C Debuts on Amazon

Click here to buy the TI-84 Plus C on Amazon. The all new TI-84 Plus C color calculator (review) has debuted on Amazon. Apparently, it’s been there for a while, since it’s already gathered quite a few customer reviews. Not only is the TI-Nspire CX there but also the TI-Nspire CX CAS. At the value these newer calculators provide, I’d find it hard to go with the older TI-84 feature set over a CX model, but I know there are some of you that are fiercely devoted to the TI-84 platform.

TI Launches TI-84C Website, Denies 'Pocket' 84C Rumors

Texas Instruments has launched a new website for the TI-84 Plus C. While they have yet to have links to it from their main site, you can check out the TI-84 Plus C site here. There are a few new tidbits there including the now firm hardware specs for those that are curious. You’ll also find a gallery of photos of the 84C, comparison chart of TI’s most popular models, the TI-84+ and TI-Nspire CX with the new TI-84+ C, and an FAQ section.

TI Points Earn a Free Navigator System

For those of you that are teachers, I wanted to make you aware that Texas Instruments has a special promotion going on right now that allows schools to earn a free wireless Navigator system. By collecting 60 of the cards that come in a TI-Nspire CX or TI-Nspire CX CAS package, you can get a free Navigator. You need to collect the entire card, not just the “TI points.” The program runs until November 15, 2012, and does require some online Navigator training (see this PDF on the TI website for more details).

The title is a mouthful: TI-Nspire ™ Tutorials: The TI-Nspire for Beginners, Getting Started with the TI-Nspire. The TI-Nspire Tutorials book is currently available exclusively on the Kindle market. I’m sure at some point I’ll get questions about iBooks, and while I’m looking into that, I wanted to start with the Kindle for a couple of reasons.

How to Upgrade to TI-nspire OS 3.2

I’m back from my Honduras trip, and hard at work looking at TI-Nspire OS 3.2. My first eBook on the TI-Nspire is nearing completion, and I have completely updated it to be consistent with 3.2, from button press sequence to screen captures. I have heard from some of you that you are having trouble updating to OS 3.2. I have had a video on YouTube for the last couple of years on how to update the Nspire OS, but the process has changed a little bit over that time.

TI-Nspire OS 3.2 Released

In the first major update to the TI-Nspire operating system since OS 3.0 came out a year ago in the Spring of 2011, Texas Instruments today released TI-Nspire OS 3.2. While less significant a leap forward than 3.0, which brought the ability to load pictures, 3D graphing, and cleared the way for the TI-Nspire CX release, 3.2 nonetheless offers important new features. The biggest change for most users will be in graphing.

Happy Birthday, TI-Nspire CX

The TI-Nspire CX is an amazing but still underused tool for math educators. If you didn’t realize it, this past Saturday marked the one year anniversary of the public announcement of the TI-Nspire CX, Texas Instruments’ full color graphing calculator. For those of you just learning about it, you might enjoy reading my TI-Nspire CX review, or even the story where I broke the announcement of the TI-Nspire CX right here on Tech Powered Math.

Supposed TI-36X Pro Error

Got an uncharacteristic number of hits on the site yesterday for the search “TI-36X Pro” yesterday and couldn’t figure out why until I saw a post on another site and a Youtube video about a “bug” in the TI-36X Pro. I’m not going to post the links to those sites in part because the author of the complaint has needlessly chosen to remain anonymous and because the article itself never explains the error and is confusing a lot of people.

Upgrade TI-Nspire to TI-Nspire CAS

(https://www.techpoweredmath.com/review-ti-89-vs-ti-nspire-cas/) I’m kind of obsessive about checking my analytics report to see what people are searching for. Lately, I’ve noticed the search coming from time to time “how to upgrade ti-nspire to ti-nspire cas.” This one makes me chuckle a bit (sorry if you arrived here on that search phrase and I’m chuckling at your expense). I would never put anything past the resourceful hackers/programmers at sites like ticalc.org an Ominmaga.
