TI-Nspire OS 3.1 Released

Just got off the phone with a customer service representative at Texas Instruments headquarters in Dallas. I was trying to get help for a problem with press-to-test mode that’s plagued several of my students’ calculators already this year. Basically, taking the calculator out of press-to-test mode can, in some cases, cause a bootup error (you will know it if you see it by a triangle with an exclamation point). I’ve seen this happen three times so far this school year, always to older grayscale Nspires on OS 3.

TI-Nspire CX CAS Unboxing

Please click here to buy your TI-Nspire CX on Amazon . UPDATE: My TI-Nspire CX CAS review is now up. Finally, the wait is over. My TI-Nspire CX CAS has arrived from the Bach Company. Tonight I put together a TI-Nspire CX unboxing video. I have to say that I don’t expect the majority of these calculators to arrive this way. Mine arrived packaged in a box, the same way some of our Texas Instruments equipment arrives at school when we make an official educational order.

TI-Nspire CX CAS Shipping Update

Quick update on the TI-Nspire CX CAS, as I know a lot of you are waiting to hear more on the release date for the CAS version. I actually pre-ordered mine from the Bach Company back in April at the annual NCTM meeting. I hadn’t received mine yet, so last Friday, I contacted the Bach Company to see what the latest was and promptly received this update: We just received word this morning that TI is shipping the new CX CAS this week.

Upgrade TI-Nspire to TI-Nspire CAS

(https://www.techpoweredmath.com/review-ti-89-vs-ti-nspire-cas/) I’m kind of obsessive about checking my analytics report to see what people are searching for. Lately, I’ve noticed the search coming from time to time “how to upgrade ti-nspire to ti-nspire cas.” This one makes me chuckle a bit (sorry if you arrived here on that search phrase and I’m chuckling at your expense). I would never put anything past the resourceful hackers/programmers at sites like ticalc.org an Ominmaga.

Where to Sell Your Graphing Calculator

So the end of the school year (and your math class) is upon you, and you’re looking for a few extra bucks to take head out for a night on the town. Or maybe you’ve decided it’s time to ditch that old TI-83 in favor of a new color TI-Nspire CX. Or possibly you’re a parent who’s last child has finished their last math class and you’d like to recoup some of the money you invested in a graphing calculator for your kids.

Price Updates on Casio Prizm and TI-Nspire CX

Just a quick update on the pricing structure for the Casio Prizm (review) and TI-Nspire CX (review). When I was at NCTM, there was more information on both calculators and their prices. First, Casio was letting everyone know that there’s going to be a price cut on the Prizm for back-to-school this coming year. That means that around July, you should be able to find the Prizm in stores for around $99.

TI-Nspire OS 3.0 Released for Grayscale Nspire

After about 6 weeks of hype, TI-Nspire OS 3.0 has finally arrived. I was a bit surprised when I learned Texas Instruments was going to release OS 3.0 before the new color TI-Nspire CX was available. I suppose it could make the CX release seem a bit anticlimactic. That said, I’m glad TI went this route. I appreciate when tech companies make the product available as soon as it’s ready to go.

TI-Nspire 3.0 Science Briefing and the “TI-Nspire Way”

I recently had my second briefing about the TI-Nspire CX and Nspire OS 3.0 with Mark Fry, Texas Instruments’ product line strategy manager for the TI-Nspire. While my first briefing back in February focused on the announcement of the Nspire CX and the broad range of new capabilities coming to the Nspire line, this time Fry focused in on giving me an overview of the science capabilities of Nspire 3.
