TI iPad App Update and NCTM Press Release

It appears that the crew in Dallas is having a busy week. Yesterday, Texas Instruments issued their first update of their new iPad app. The update purports to fix one of the specific problems I experienced during my initial TI-Nspire iPad app review, which was a crash during the use of the camera feature. I have tried to recreate that crash since updating the app, and I haven’t been able to, so it looks like they were successful in fixing the problem.

T3 Stream of Consciousness

In honor of one of my favorite sports bloggers, Robert of alioneye.com, I’m doing a “stream of conciousness” post to wrap up my thoughts on last weekend’s T3 conference. There’s no method or plan to this. I’ve just had a lot of random thoughts about my time in Philadelphia, none of which would make a satisfying post in and of itself. Here goes nothing. –As tough as Philadelphia sports fans can be, I was expecting the locals in Philly to be a little rough around the edges.

T3 Day 2 Roundup: Mayim, the Marriott, and the Market

My day two here in Philadelphia was jam packed with sessions, so much so that it feels really good to just hunker down in my room long enough to get a post up. The day kicked off with a session from the always entertaining TI-Nspire expert Tom Reardon. TI spokesperson and Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik was active throughout the conference today, and she made a “surprise” appearance at this session to present with Reardon.

T3 Day 1 Roundup: Welcome to Philadelphia

Today was the first day of the annual T3 conference here in Philadelphia. Texas Instruments is really playing up the fact that this is the 25th year for the conference, from highlighting teachers who have been at T3 from the beginning to offering $25 off the new TI-Nspire app this weekend. It is pretty crazy to think they’ve been at this since the late 1980’s, especially considering where calculator technology was at that time.

Update #1 (8:05 a.m.): This morning, I was informed by a representative of Texas Instruments that a security issue was discovered in the TI-Nspire iPad app overnight, and it has been pulled from the App Store. The TI development team is working to get the app back in the App Store as soon as possible. Update #2 (11:38 a.m.) I’ve received an official statement from Texas Instruments regarding the TI-Nspire app being pulled from the App Store:

Finding My Way Back

Friday’s post was the first on here in quite some time, and I’d like to offer a brief explanation. Essentially, I’ve felt forced to take some time away from my online adventures by a combination of poor health, a change of house, and a busy time at school. The health issue was a flurry of migraines like I’ve never experienced that started in September. After a couple of weeks of trying to struggle through, I ended up on an allergy prescription that successfully knocked the migraines down, but caused me to spend most of my waking hours wishing I was sleeping.

TI Points Earn a Free Navigator System

For those of you that are teachers, I wanted to make you aware that Texas Instruments has a special promotion going on right now that allows schools to earn a free wireless Navigator system. By collecting 60 of the cards that come in a TI-Nspire CX or TI-Nspire CX CAS package, you can get a free Navigator. You need to collect the entire card, not just the “TI points.” The program runs until November 15, 2012, and does require some online Navigator training (see this PDF on the TI website for more details).

Click here to see the TI-Nspire CX CAS price on Amazon. Once again a new school year is upon us, and that requires a fresh look at the TI-Nspire CX CAS vs. TI-89 Titanium debate. In addition to this article, you may want to check out my standalone TI-Nspire CX CAS Review and my TI-89 Titanium Review. I wrote a post on this topic a couple of years ago, but with each passing year it has to be updated.
