TI-Nspire CX vs. TI-84 Plus

Please buy your TI-Nspire CX on Amazon . With a new school year upon us, I’m bound to get a flood of questions from students about which graphing calculator is right for them. Since the new color TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition is now on the market, I’m assuming the question of the TI-Nspire CX vs. the TI-84 Plus C will be one of the biggest questions I get this school year.

How to Replace a TI-Nspire CX Battery

Click here to get a new TI-Nspire rechargeable battery on Amazon. I’ve put together simple video tutorial on how to change the rechargeable battery on the TI-Nspire CX (or CX CAS). You won’t need anything but a set of mini screwdrivers and a new battery. As I say in the video, this is a fairly simple procedure which I’ve done many times without any problems. However, any time you take the calculator apart, there is a chance something could go wrong, so proceed at your own risk.

Happy Birthday, TI-Nspire CX

The TI-Nspire CX is an amazing but still underused tool for math educators. If you didn’t realize it, this past Saturday marked the one year anniversary of the public announcement of the TI-Nspire CX, Texas Instruments’ full color graphing calculator. For those of you just learning about it, you might enjoy reading my TI-Nspire CX review, or even the story where I broke the announcement of the TI-Nspire CX right here on Tech Powered Math.

Red Ribbon Week TI-Nspire Door

So if you haven’t heard, it’s Red Ribbon Week, which is a time for students to celebrate a drug free lifestyle. It’s observed at many high schools across America, including the one I work at. For 2011, the theme of Red Ribbon is “Free to Be Drug Free.” Part of Red Ribbon Week at our school is a door decorating contest. With no prompting from me, my 5th hour Pre-Calculus class decided to turn the door into a TI-Nspire CX.

TI-Nspire CX vs. Casio Prizm: It’s Apples and Oranges

Please click here to buy your TI-Nspire CX on Amazon . TI and Casio have taken very different approaches with their color calculators I’ve heard the question many times over the last few months: “What’s better, the TI-Nspire CX or Casio Prizm?” It’s a natural comparison. They’re the world’s first full color graphing calculators, both with the capability to graph on photographs, both released within a few months of each other in 2011.

TI-Nspire CX CAS Unboxing

Please click here to buy your TI-Nspire CX on Amazon . UPDATE: My TI-Nspire CX CAS review is now up. Finally, the wait is over. My TI-Nspire CX CAS has arrived from the Bach Company. Tonight I put together a TI-Nspire CX unboxing video. I have to say that I don’t expect the majority of these calculators to arrive this way. Mine arrived packaged in a box, the same way some of our Texas Instruments equipment arrives at school when we make an official educational order.

TI-Nspire CX CAS Shipping Update

Quick update on the TI-Nspire CX CAS, as I know a lot of you are waiting to hear more on the release date for the CAS version. I actually pre-ordered mine from the Bach Company back in April at the annual NCTM meeting. I hadn’t received mine yet, so last Friday, I contacted the Bach Company to see what the latest was and promptly received this update: We just received word this morning that TI is shipping the new CX CAS this week.

TI-Nspire CX Released on Amazon

I’ve been religiously checking ever day for the last several weeks to see if the TI-Nspire CX is listed on Amazon. Until today, the pattern was always the same. Search for “TI-Nspire CX,” autocomplete beating me to the punch before the first few letters are out (making me thing many others are doing the same), and then the same 5 or 6 products, none of them the TI-Nspire CX.  Today, it was different.
