Since the new color TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition is now on the market, I’m assuming the question of the TI-Nspire CX vs. the TI-84 Plus C will be one of the biggest questions I get this school year.

You won’t need anything but a set of mini screwdrivers and a new battery. As I say in the video, this is a fairly simple procedure which I’ve done many times without any problems. However, any time you take the calculator apart, there is a chance something could go wrong, so proceed at your own risk.
The TI-Nspire CX is an amazing but still underused tool for math educators. TI and Casio have taken very different approaches with their color calculators I’ve heard the question many times over the last few months: “What’s better, the TI-Nspire CX or Casio Prizm?” It’s a natural comparison. They’re the world’s first full color graphing calculators, both with the capability to graph on photographs, both released within a few months of each other in 2011.

Tonight I put together a TI-Nspire CX unboxing video. I have to say that I don’t expect the majority of these calculators to arrive this way. Mine arrived packaged in a box, the same way some of our Texas Instruments equipment arrives at school when we make an official educational order.
Quick update on the TI-Nspire CX CAS, as I know a lot of you are waiting to hear more on the release date for the CAS version. I actually pre-ordered mine from the Bach Company back in April at the annual NCTM meeting. I hadn’t received mine yet, so last Friday, I contacted the Bach Company to see what the latest was and promptly received this update: We just received word this morning that TI is shipping the new CX CAS this week.
I’ve been religiously checking ever day for the last several weeks to see if the TI-Nspire CX is listed on Amazon. Until today, the pattern was always the same. Search for “TI-Nspire CX,” autocomplete beating me to the punch before the first few letters are out (making me thing many others are doing the same), and then the same 5 or 6 products, none of them the TI-Nspire CX. Today, it was different.
